Live text is everywhere: CART at a conference, captions in a classroom or a movie theater, realtime transcription in a courtroom, sermon captions at a place of worship, the caption stream in a video call. But it exists only on screens, and a screen assumes sight. A blind moviegoer has no way to read the English subtitles on a Korean-language film. A deafblind attendee cannot read the very captions provided as their accommodation. Dotify Live streams that same text to a braille display under the reader’s hands.

Connect your CART or live caption feed, and your captions stream to the reader as paced braille on their own display. Supported sources include StreamText, 1CapApp, Zoom’s closed-caption API, and any captioning software that can post text to a URL.
Corrections are our specialty. Fresh text stays provisional until confirmed, and revisions are applied without disturbing the reader’s place in the line.
Connecting is one URL: email us about the event, point your software at the receive address we send back, and you are live. We send the full wire format along with your address.

Dotify Live buffers every word of the caption stream, so you read at your own pace and decide when and how to catch up. Your speed and your place in the text change only when you change them.

Reading controls
Captions stream at the reading speed you set, and every word is kept. Change your speed, pause, rewind, or fast forward. Three scroll modes fit different reading styles: auto scroll advances the text for you, manual advance moves on your panning key, and ticker tape slides the text cell by cell beneath resting fingers. Uncontracted and contracted UEB are both supported, on refreshable displays over USB or Bluetooth.
Backlog gauge
When speech comes in faster than you read, the extra words queue up in a backlog. The leftmost cell of your display is your backlog gauge. An empty cell means you are caught up; dots fill in as words queue, so a full cell means you are 100 or more words behind live.

Automatic transcription
With no captioner around, Dotify Live transcribes nearby speech using state-of-the-art models from ElevenLabs, AssemblyAI, and Nvidia. Best in a quiet room with one speaker.
